The DBM course is one of the most scenic urban-coastal marathon routes in Kerala. The route takes runners through: Asramam Ground, Ashtamudi Backwaters, Thangassery Lighthouse region, historic Portuguese-influenced coastal areas, Vaadi fishing hamlets, Arabian Sea stretches, and the heritage roads of Kollam city. Unlike many dense urban marathons, DBM combines backwater scenery, coastal humidity, village landscapes, and monsoon-season running conditions into a distinctive endurance experience. The course is generally flat and beginner-friendly, though July humidity and monsoon weather can make race conditions physically demanding, especially during the half marathon category.
