The 2025 edition marked the 10th running of the marathon and saw strong community participation across marathon, half marathon, and fun run categories. The event highlighted family participation and inclusive running culture, with several multi-generational runner groups taking part. The scenic coastal route through Kochi continued to remain one of the race’s biggest attractions
The 2024 edition attracted more than 8,000 runners, making it one of the largest editions of the event. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar inaugurated the race at Marine Drive. Runners from corporate teams, police, navy, and families participated in full marathon, half marathon, and fun run categories. The event strengthened Kochi’s growing reputation as a marathon destination.
The 2023 marathon witnessed around 7,000 participants across various age groups. The race started from Maharajas College Ground and included 42.2 km, 21.1 km, and 5 km categories. Jose Ellickal and Trupti Katkar Chavan emerged as winners in the full marathon categories. Organizers also emphasized sustainability, promoting the marathon as a major “Green Marathon” event in India.
The 2022 edition represented an important revival phase for long-distance running events in Kochi after pandemic-related interruptions in earlier years. The marathon returned with full and half marathon categories and renewed participation from runners across Kerala and neighboring states. The event helped rebuild the city’s running community momentum.
There is limited public reporting available for a full-scale 2021 edition, likely due to COVID-19 restrictions and public event limitations during that period. Many large road races across India were postponed, scaled down, or conducted with restrictions. The Spice Coast Marathon organization maintained community engagement and resumed larger editions in subsequent years.
