Kerala’s Premier Ultra Trail Marathon Through the Hills, Meadows, and Mountain Ridges of Vagamon
The Vagamon ULtrail is an annual ultra trail marathon held in Vagamon, Kerala, typically in January. Organized by Soles of Cochin Runner’s Club, the race is widely regarded as Kerala’s flagship trail ultra and one of the few dedicated mountain ultra-running events in South India. The event takes runners across the hills of Vagamon along the Kottayam–Idukki border through rugged trails, grasslands, forest paths, tea plantations, ridgelines, and open meadows.
The race evolved from Soles of Cochin’s internal trail running camp in Vagamon that began in 2016. After two years as an internal running event, it was opened to the public in 2018. Since then, the ULtrail has steadily grown into a landmark trail-running event in Kerala, attracting runners from across India.
What makes Vagamon ULtrail especially distinctive is the combination of technical trail running, elevation gain, changing weather, cool hill climate, and panoramic views across one of Kerala’s most beautiful landscapes.
