Kollam’s Own Marathon Through the Scenic Backwaters, Coastal Roads, and Heritage Landscapes of Kerala
The Desinganad Backwaters Marathon (DBM) is an annual marathon event held in Kollam, Kerala, typically on the second Sunday of July. Organized by Soles of Kollam Runners Club, the race combines endurance sports with the natural beauty and heritage identity of Kollam, historically known as Desinganad. The event features scenic backwater routes, Arabian Sea coastline stretches, fishing villages, and urban heritage roads.
Widely referred to as “Kollam’s Own Marathon” , DBM has become an important event in Kerala’s growing running ecosystem. Since its inaugural edition in 2022, the marathon has attracted runners from across India and international participants, helping establish Kollam as an emerging endurance sports destination in South India.
