The Mangalore Marathon was launched in 2022 by the Mangalore Runners Club, a community formed by passionate runners committed to promoting fitness and endurance sports in coastal Karnataka. Building upon years of community running initiatives and successful events such as The Big Balipu and various virtual running programs, the marathon quickly established itself as the region’s premier road race. Participation has grown significantly with each edition, transforming the event from a local community initiative into the largest marathon in the district and the only one with an AIMS-certified course. Today, the Mangalore Marathon attracts thousands of runners from across India and abroad, helping position Mangaluru as an emerging destination for road running and sports tourism.
