Dream Runners was established in 2008 and rapidly became one of India’s leading recreational running communities. Built around volunteerism, mentorship, and fitness awareness, the organization played a major role in strengthening Chennai’s running culture during India’s modern road-running boom.
The inaugural Dream Runners Half Marathon was launched in 2012 with around 450 participants from the local running community. Since then, DRHM has been conducted annually every July and has consistently grown into one of India’s most respected half marathon events. From 2013 to 2019, each edition attracted more than 5,000 runners annually across the Half Marathon and 10K categories, with women runners accounting for approximately 20% of participation. The event has also consistently ranked as the #1 race on the Mumbai Road Runners (MRR) Race Rating platform in both Half Marathon and 10K categories.
