The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon was launched in 2005 at a time when the concept of mass-participation road running was still relatively new in India. Despite initial skepticism, the race quickly captured the imagination of Delhi’s residents and grew into a transformative movement that reshaped the city’s relationship with fitness and outdoor sport. Over two decades, the event has evolved into a World Athletics Gold Label race, attracted some of the greatest distance runners in history, inspired the growth of running clubs and races across North India, and become one of the country’s most influential sporting properties. Beyond athletic achievement, the race has also emerged as a powerful force for social impact, raising more than ₹84 crore for charitable causes while promoting inclusion, sustainability, gender equality, and community engagement.
